Get a Lab. They are perfect for running and playing! Very friendly and athletic. (as long as they don’t eat to much)
Thank Man ! Only thing about German Shepherd Hip Dysplasia
I personally would always choose the german shepherd. I have owned 2. I currently own what is called a ddr german shepherd. This is by far the best dog Ive ever owned. I grew up raising great danes which are really similar to the mastiff. IMHO Mastiffs , great danes are awesome dogs, theyre just lazy ,hard to train and live very short lives 6-8 yrs. German Shepherds usually live for 12-14 yrs are easily trained and want to be with you wherever you go. Before you get a dog , do plenty of research
German sheperd’s are loving dogs but you need to train them as puppies.
They sometimes are protective to people
Which one would u get German shephed or Mastiff
Xonviver did you watch the vid?
can anyone help me to give me an answer on what dog is the right one for me? I want a loving, stranger tolerant & friendly, but very athletic dog that likes running in forests and maybe in snow, would be great if someone could give some advise!
the same with my australian shepherd he barks at every single dog that passes by.
Hey guys, I have a 10 month old GSD male, he has been going to dog parks since hes been 3 months old and was great. when he was around 5months he got bit by a dog in the park without any provoking by him. He was getting better but since around 9mths old when he is on the leash, he wont stop barking at dogs and i mean any dog he sees he barks at it. But if i take off the leash he gets very scared of the dogs. What should i do to fix this problem? Hes great with people though
no she doesnt walk to heel she takes us for walks
when we try to take her for a walk there is a calm boxer that walks down our road and she still goes mental
but we will try this and let you know how we get on
thank you
dose she walk 2 heel?
so get her to and at first just walk past another calm dog of around her size
if she wont walk past start with the dog in sight and slowmy move a few steps closer stop (is she foody?) reward her wen shes calm again then move again keep doing this and she will soon be pulling towards the other dogs
dont forget to let her meet on her own not force her into it or encurage her to be afrade a good book 2 get hod of is cisas way
let me know how u get along
socialisation if u do nothing else she needs to be socialised to people kids dogs anything u can find just rember to reward after any positive experiance and not to with negitave and u cant go far wrong
wen u see them dont go for any that are timid hiding away or overly exited but best ting 2 do is read up on the breedd and dogs in general tehn u should have a good idear wat to look for
there amasing guard dogs even without training in guarding they are very protecive
um…..can it be a gud gard dog??
There are a few tests you can do and the info is on the net. I dont know how effective they are as when we got ours we knew nothing I guess we got very lucky as ours is the sweetest best natured GSD I ever came accross. A lot of your dog’s temperament imo comes down to how you train and socialise him or her. Training must start as soon as you get it home and socialisation must start as soon as they are able to go out after their first injections that way you will get a happy well adjusted dog
what are some things to look for in a puppies personality to help u pick them?
good video, definatly useful information.
Get a long lead and make a loop in your left hand. If she pulls immediately let go of the loop, turn and walk in the other direction. It usually works very quickly, if it doesnt, perservere or nuy a halti. Dont ever use a choke chain as they are cruel and can set up an opposition response. Clicker training … there are any amouts of methods to use and they all will work sooner or later. I found the long lead method worked with our GSD
my dog…possibly the most obiedient dog you may ever find…jst do what this guys saying….follow the tips…if you have a calm puppy than youll have a calm dog in years to come and a every loyal friend
Dude! your the best! Ty for the ebook,il get German Shepherd soon, dose that ebook has got how to train dog to stay on your territory, i live at countery hose and il dont want to but my dog to (chain) srry for bad English. 5 stars and sub!
This may sound weird but I would try watching animal planet. We are starting to train our GSD and I’ve been watching the trainers on there (My favorite is “It’s me or the dog”) and they have a lot of good advice. Also he starts obedience school at petsmart this saturday and I am hoping that will help. Good luck! =)
i have a 3mo old german shepherd puppy and am wondering what’s the most important thing i need to do for her first (like do i need to begin obedience first or what?)
she’s very smart, already sitting on command!
our german shepherd is 3 years old, very big and strong
we tried socialising her at a young age but the other dog (who was a jack russel) tried to bite her and because of that she doesnt like other dogs and when ever we try to take her for a walk it is almost impossible, we need 3 people to hold her back when she sees another dog
any advise on how we can get her socialised without being pulled over?
(we tried a harness)
fully grown mental and physically is about 2 years
but hell start getting very protective at around 14 months
