our german shepherd is 3 years old, very big and strong
we tried socialising her at a young age but the other dog (who was a jack russel) tried to bite her and because of that she doesnt like other dogs and when ever we try to take her for a walk it is almost impossible, we need 3 people to hold her back when she sees another dog
any advise on how we can get her socialised without being pulled over?
(we tried a harness)

she's very smart, already sitting on command!

This may sound weird but I would try watching animal planet. We are starting to train our GSD and I've been watching the trainers on there (My favorite is "It's me or the dog") and they have a lot of good advice. Also he starts obedience school at petsmart this saturday and I am hoping that will help. Good luck! =)

Get a long lead and make a loop in your left hand. If she pulls immediately let go of the loop, turn and walk in the other direction. It usually works very quickly, if it doesnt, perservere or nuy a halti. Dont ever use a choke chain as they are cruel and can set up an opposition response. Clicker training ... there are any amouts of methods to use and they all will work sooner or later. I found the long lead method worked with our GSD

There are a few tests you can do and the info is on the net. I dont know how effective they are as when we got ours we knew nothing I guess we got very lucky as ours is the sweetest best natured GSD I ever came accross. A lot of your dog's temperament imo comes down to how you train and socialise him or her. Training must start as soon as you get it home and socialisation must start as soon as they are able to go out after their first injections that way you will get a happy well adjusted dog
