If you own a Chow Chow or if you're thinking about getting one, then this may be the most important letter you'll ever read...

its difficult, my dogs playfully chase the cats. As long as the dog isn’t hurting the cats the cats will eventually quit running and he’ll lose all his joy in chasing the cats.

German Shepherds have a high prey drive and love to chase anything that is moving. This is a natural behaviour and it will be very hard to break it.
I feel this is something you need to work on with a professional dog trainer, but be warned it may be a behaviour you will never be able to break.

Its quite difficult havin’ cats and dogs in your house…the best thing you need to do is put them in one place that they cant see each other..put the cats in somewhere safe that dogs can’t see themm and put the dogs in a place where the cats can’t see them….

keep the dogs and cats away from each other for example: first feed the dogs then lock them up in a room then feed the cats just do the same for cats and dogs just don’t do it at the same time

I have 2 shepherds that think cats are for their entertainment…. I dont have any cats, and it keeps the neighborhood cats from coming into my yard and “going” anywhere they want…my dogs are tied when they are outside, so they can’t get to the cats, but they do bark at them and they stay away..but I think that it would be hard to get them to stop..even tho they are very well trained

Don’t separate your pets. Take control of the shepherd and make him understand that king of behavior is unacceptable. Correct the shepherd the moment he looks toward a cat until he understands. You and everyone else in your household must enforce that rule every time. If you don’t take corrective action now, you could find a dead cat(s) in your house. Besides that, all of the rest of your animals will be able to relax after you establish control of the shepherd. Would you want to go through life scared every moment you’re alive? By not correcting the behavior of one animal, the rest of your animals are suffering in constant fear. Get on it now.
